Flexion Fix

Updated: Apr 3

Today the team successfully integrated the finger flexion module onto the ESP32 platform. This brings the hardware and electrical project one step closer to completion. For those who may have forgotten the flexion module allows the system to measure how much each finger bends.

Interestingly a variety of errors were discovered in the flexion code which were only discovered once ported to the ESP32 platform. Some of these fixes include divide by zero protection and a correction to the bend percentage calculations.

The team improved the demonstration code as well once the code was updated. The video below shows the demonstration module in action. First, the code has the user follow a simple calibration sequence, and then each finger's flexion value is output as it changes. Note that while the code supports readings of up to four fingers, the video only uses two.
