Halving Haptic Hurdles

Updated: Feb 17

One challenge that was encountered was whether it was needed to actually use one haptic driver per each motor. This problem was considered for two reasons:

  1. The limited number of haptic drivers available

  2. The size that each driver took up on the hand.

To overcome this, driving multiple motors from the same driver was tested. When measuring the current across the driver it was noted that there was approximately half the current in the motor compared to when only one motor was being used.

In subjective testing, the intensity of the motors was still enough to where there would be a noticeable sensation, meaning that it is possible to drive at least two motors from one driver.
